Journey to NAMM 2024

At Hit Play, we’re not just in the business of event production; we’re dedicated to staying ahead
of the curve with the latest AV technology trends. Recently, our team embarked on a trip to the
NAMM (National Association for Music Merchants) Show, in Anaheim, California. It was an
experience that left us inspired, invigorated, and ready to redefine the landscape of event
production.

Chris Baker, our sound engineer and warehouse manager, led the charge at NAMM. As a
first-time attendee, Chris was greeted by the sheer magnitude of the event—a sprawling
showcase spanning multiple floors across two buildings at the Anaheim Convention Center. It
was a testament to the vast innovation and creativity driving the music industry forward. From
boutique offerings to industry giants, NAMM presented an unparalleled opportunity to witness
the evolution of event production in real-time.

One of the standout trends Chris observed was the integration of automation and streamlined
workflows. Companies showcased innovative solutions aimed at simplifying complex processes,
from automated line arrays to advancements in top-tier equipment made by companies like d&b
audiotechnik. But it wasn’t just about admiring the latest innovations; it was about embracing
them. Chris was particularly drawn to the Yamaha DM series boards, which we’ve been eyeing
for potential integration into our inventory. The chance to preview these products firsthand
provided invaluable insights into their capabilities and potential impact on our operations.

What truly set NAMM apart was the spirit of collaboration and learning. Chris participated in
informative classes led by industry experts, delving deep into the intricacies of cutting-edge
audio systems. From Allen & Heath consoles to creative routing techniques, each session
offered a wealth of knowledge to bring back to the Hit Play team.

As Chris reflects on his NAMM experience, one thing is clear: it’s not just about staying ahead of
the curve; it’s about setting the curve. Incorporating the lessons learned at NAMM into our
operations is essential to our mission of delivering unparalleled event experiences. From
embracing new technologies to refining our practices, we’re committed to pushing the
boundaries of what’s possible in event production.

Our journey to NAMM was more than just a trade show—it was a glimpse into the future of
event production. As we return to Richmond, VA, we carry with us the inspiration, knowledge,
and determination to lead the way in event production and redefine what’s possible, one event
at a time.
